Indian Country

Indian Country includes the entire northeastern section of Arizona. This region extends from Page, AZ and the Utah Border in the north, to the New Mexico border to the east. The majority of this region is under control by the Navajo Nation and the Hopi Tribe. The main towns include Page, Chinle, Winslow, and Holbrook. Please be respectful of Native American lands. You will be required to abide by the rules when camping and any violation of the rules is considered trespassing.

This area includes some of Arizona’s most amazing landmarks. The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area includes camping along the shores of the Colorado River and Lake Powell. A major vacation spot which over two million people visit every year! Other must-see locations include Monument Valley, the Canyon de Chelly National Monument, the Petrified Forest National Park, and Antelope Canyon.

Camping is allowed in designated areas of the Navajo Nation. Permits are required and can be obtained through the Navajo Parks and Recreations website at navajonationparks.org. Two notable campgrounds are near Wheatfields Lake and the Canyon de Chelly National Monument.
