I created this website to help families find and research campgrounds in Arizona. I was frustrated with google searches that failed to include all possible campground options as I was putting my plans together. My goal was to create a campground map that included all the possible camping locations in Arizona. I spent hundred of hours researching and compiling data on all the campgrounds that Arizona has to offer. Now instead of trying find that perfect spot through numerous different websites and maps, I have put all campgrounds (over 320) in one easy place.
This website is designed for the weekend car camper and family. I have included some RV locations such as KOA, but they must have tent camping sites available. We are fortunate to have 7 National Forests, 31 Arizona State parks, numerous National Monuments and wildlife areas, and over 12 million acres of BLM land. Camping in Arizona is endless with hundreds of dispersed camping areas throughout the state. I have decided to not include any camping locations that are inaccessible by vehicle (sorry backpackers and hikers) and campgrounds focused on RVers. I am sure that I have missed great camping spots. If you come across a campground that is not included on this site, please let us know.
A little about The AZ Camp Family:
We live in Phoenix, Arizona and spend numerous weekends a year camping. Our goal is to explore Arizona from top to bottom and we have personally stayed at many of the campgrounds featured on this website. As we visit new areas and campgrounds, we will do our best to add pictures and reviews.
Mr. AZ Camp Dad: Originally from Southern California, has lived in Arizona since 2006. He works full time in the financial industry and taught himself all the skills needed to create this website. He began camping as a youth and has spent hundreds of nights camping and backpacking through California and Arizona. Received the Eagle Scout rank and well adverse in outdoor skills.
Mrs. AZ Camp Mom: Originally from the Chicagoland area, is a local teacher in the Phoenix Valley. When she is not grading test and preparing for class, Mrs. AZ Camp Mom enjoys the great outdoors and relaxing by a fire or stream. Relatively new to camping, she is catching on quick and developing her outdoor skills.
AZ Camp Jr: Started camping when he was only 6 months old. Loves being outside and alongside his dad in any capacity. Currently in the 5th grade and already a experienced camper.
